“When a ‘Like’ Turns Into Drama 👀”
Hey, What’s the Deal with Social Media and Judging?
Hey everyone! How’s it going? Let’s be real—most of us are glued to social media these days, right? Even if you’re not into books, I bet you’re scrolling through comments, captions, or posts like a pro. Social media’s a wild mix—we learn cool stuff, laugh at memes, maybe cry at a reel, or yeah, sometimes waste a little time. It all depends on how we use it, and I’m not here to point fingers.
So, here’s a quick story from my life. I started my Instagram account last year. Like most of you, I scroll through reels, hit ‘like’ on ones that vibe with me, and sometimes share them with friends. Pretty standard, right?
But today, my friend called me up and was like, “Yo, why are you liking reels with dark humor or cuss words?” I was kinda thrown off. I’m 21, you know? This is the age where we’re exploring, chilling with friends, and figuring out life. If a reel’s funny or relatable, I hit like. It’s not like my whole personality revolves around that one video.
My friend wasn’t convinced. He said, “People will judge you, especially as a girl. They might make assumptions about your character.” I totally disagreed. Here’s my take:
- Everyone vibes with different content—some love cat videos, others love edgy memes. That’s okay!
- Liking a reel doesn’t define who I am or what I stand for.
- I’m not hurting anyone, and I’m not into anything extreme. So why blow it out of proportion?
I told him, “You’re overthinking this. Why turn a ‘like’ into a drama?” He kept going on about “what people will think,” but honestly? People will always have something to say, no matter what you do.
My point: Life’s too short to stress about others’ opinions or live in fear of being judged. Social media’s for fun, learning, and vibing—so let’s keep it that way.
What about you? Ever been called out for a like or post? Drop your thoughts below—I’d love to hear your stories!
